   46gr, Most accurate slug I’ve used to date – 48gr HP is equally accurate. Gun is a Taipan Veteran .25 with a LW Polygonal barrel. I’ve shot these as fast as 935fps but dropped it to 900fps to gain a few more shots. I’m averaging nickel to quarter size, 10 shot groups at 100yrds. Griffin BT’s are equally accurate – the big difference, the AVS bullet tip, is much more pronounced, steeper slope, almost like a rifle cartridge, ballistic tip except it’s a hollow point vs a poly tip. This aids in BC and translates to better fps. I gain approximately 15-20fp with the AVS, same bullet type/weight as the Griffin. I’ve shot a few hundred of both the 46gr and the 48gr from both AVS and Griffin – both are equally accurate, except the AVS give me that 15-25 gain in fps. Thats a huge difference given same type and weight of the projectile. As a side note; I could not get the 44gr or 42gr AVS bullets to work at all. the Griffin 42LDCs work great, only difference (other than that plastic ball inside of it – which I don’t personally care for) is the amount of materiel on the shoulder of the bullet – the Griffin has much more meat on the shoulders to grip the barrel lands whereas the AVS has a thinner shoulder = less grip. reshaping the 44/42 I believe would make these tack drivers as well – or maybe they just don’t like a polygonal barrel, air guns are finicky like that. either way, I can honestly say that I really like the AVS products – that’s why I just placed an order for 1,200 each, of the .254 – 46gr BT/HPs – yes, they’re that good.
